A Night of Champions

It was a special night as PALL won all 3 of their championship games. Our own 8/9/10 team put up a fight tonight, but they were unable to defeat San Marino. The 8/9/10 team played a grueling 5 games and ended the tournament in 3rd place with a record of 3-2. Jim Sparks, Alan Hoang, and Marcos Rodriguez set the foundation for a solid tournament and the team shows promise for many years to come. Congratulations to our 8/9/10 team on a hard-fought tournament. You have made PALL proud!

The night started with a championship game at Heasley Field where our Futures team took on Santa Anita Little League for the Championship game. The game did not disappoint as the score held at 0-0 through 3 innings. It looked like SALL was going to put the first run on the board in the top of the 2nd, as a single sneaked by through the middle, but an excellent relay from Xavier Shakiba to Declan Beck to Cooper Lewis ended with a bang-bang play at the plate. PALL kept putting the ball in play, and it finally paid off in the Bottom of the 4th as they put 5 runs on the board. Multiple hits came from Emily Lansford, Shakiba, and Beck. Sebastian Garcia, Cooper Lewis, and Nick Lopez each contributed with singles to keep the rally going. Jack Giovannone had another solid night on the hill, going 4 1/3 innings with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks. Beck came in to close out the game and the two combined for the complete game shutout. Congratulations to our 2021 District 17 Futures Champions.

Just down the street our own Little League All Star team was playing Pasadena Southwest for the Championship game at Lojeski Field. The story of the night was the dominant pitching from Andrew Luna. Luna shutout the Pasadena Southwest team, going 6 innings with 1 hit, 1 walk, and 14 strikeouts. PALL was able to score 3 runs on the night, and they secured the win 3-0. The scoring started in the top of the 2nd when Elijah Lain connected for another home run in the tournament. PALL scored 2 more runs in the top of the 3rd with a single by Noah Tsui, a double by Chris Chino, and then a popup error put in play by Luna that allowed Chino to score. 3 runs were all it took for the dominant win over Pasadena Southwest. Congratulations to our 2021 Little League All Stars District 17 Champions. Stay tuned for the schedule for their next games.

To cap the night off, our own 9/10/11 team defeated Pasadena Southwest 10-3 to win the District 17 championship. The scoring was back and forth in the early innings with PALL heading into the 4th with a 6-3 lead. A 4-run rally in the bottom of the 5th helped solidify the win. Multiple hits came from Cooper Longo, Nolan Pegram, and Hudson Taoatao. Aiden Schmutzer led the team with three hits and three rbis on the night. Gavin Fong started the game for PALL and then handed the last 4 innings over to Harrison Eberwein. Eberwein shut things down by going 4 innings with 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts and 0 runs allowed. Congratulations to our 2021 9/10/11 All Stars District 17 Champions. Stay tuned for the schedule for their next games.

Coming up: Our PALL Juniors team will be playing their first game on Monday, July 5th, at 7pm at Bonita Park. Come out and support our Juniors All Stars!

A huge thank you is due to Michael Fiore, our tournament director at Victory Park, and to all the volunteers and families that helped us put on the 9/10/11 tournament. Running a tournament takes a lot of work, and the PALL family thanks you for all of your time and care for our players.
