Pasadena Health Protocol Update

Pasadena Public Health has recently updated their youth sports protocols. Some key areas to note:

Face Masks:

Face masks are not required, but they are recommended in crowded spaces or where distancing is not practical or possible.

Screening, testing, and confirmed cases:

Participants and families are to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to attending any youth sports activities. Symptoms of COVID-19 include, but are not limited to, fever and chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. Stay home and do not attend any PALL events if you have any of these symptoms.
Whenever a confirmed case is identified on any of our youth sports teams, follow instructions listed in the Exposure Management Plan Guidance for Youth Sports and ensure that all unvaccinated close contacts quarantine along with any symptomatic vaccinated close contacts.
A weekly negative test result is required for all youth participants who are not fully vaccinated and for all adult participants who are not up to date on COVID-19 vaccines, including youth ages 12 years and older who are playing and staff/coaches/volunteers; weekly school testing and results from over-the-counter test kits fulfill this obligation.
Youth participating in outdoor sports who are fully vaccinated are not required to test weekly unless there is a positive case among players, coaches and/or staff. If there is a positive case, all players, staff/coaches/volunteers (regardless of vaccination status) are required to have a weekly negative test result for two weeks from exposure to the case and must test negative prior to competitions.

It is possible that our older teams may play games in leagues, districts, or cities with different policies in place compared to our health protocols. It is expected that all participants, coaches, and parents adhere to any posted policies at any location where a game or practice might take place.
